UNGC Director calls for a minimal carbon price

The new Global Goals, unanimously adopted by 193 state leaders at the UN
The Sustainable Development Goals – SDG, drafted by the United Nations, have been unanimously adopted by the 193 UN state leaders present at the UN Global Compact in New York, September 25th-27th.
The 17 goals advanced to the international community for the next 15 years aim at ending extreme poverty, fighting inequality and injustice and fixing climate change. The objectives are global in themselves, but their success depends on the local and national implementation efforts and ther are expected to trigger a chain reaction in the business sector and at the level of the administrative and political decisions.
Romania values this event and was represented, for the first time in the last decade, at its highest level, by president Klaus Iohannis.
Business Action Pledge in Response to the Refugee Crisis
As we are caught in the middle of the refugees crisis, a phenomenon that will soon be a reality in Romania also, UN Global Compact is launching a pledge to action for the business sector to support governments’ efforts in absorbing and welcoming the refugees.

INSOFT has published the COP report
The report [PDF] evaluates the impact that INSOFT had on the Romanian society and on the customers, employees, business partners, the community and on the environment. Additionally, this report launches a new challenge for INSOFT, showing the effects of the corporate social responsability implementation policies and the wat that these contribute to a greater efficiency of the company. INSOFT Development&Consulting rolled out a series of national projects with social impact in 2014-2015, integrated in its own campaigns or in partnership with ONGs.
Romania doesn’t always respect labour rights
Romania holds one of the lowest ratings in the European Union with regard to respecting employees’ rights and is on the penultimate place, as is Poland, among the countries where labour rights are systematically violated. These are the findings of the “Social Monitor”, a project of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung foundation. Data sources are Eurostat and ITUC.

Launch of the Global Compact Network Romania
With more than 150 businesses and other stakeholders, the Global Compact Network Romania was launched today in Bucharest.
A Memorandum of Understanding was officially signed with the elected representative of the network, making Romania the 88th Global Compact Local Network. The launch of the network in Romania sends a strong signal that companies and other stakeholders in Romania are ready to implement the Global Compact Ten Principles and scale up their commitment to sustainability.
The event was attended by representatives of the Romanian Government, embassies of the Netherlands, Germany, and business leaders. Global Compact Networks Bulgaria and Poland also took part.
